Knowing Client Behavior and their Expectations

Ms Gillian Muessig, President and Co-founder of SEOmoz, explains how to understand your US / UK /EU clients’ expectations. She emphasized on right communications in terms of language, reporting and feedback.

She was at Ahmedabad, India to deliver a fantastic session on Understanding US / UK /EU Client Language, Reporting, Feedback. She highlighted few important points on what these clients think and how to handle them.

Client Language

We appear to be speaking the same language, but we are definitely not communicating! One must speak slowly, clearly and timely. One must understand the importance of “Are we all clear on this issue?” and repeat conclusions or instructions, whenever needed. Using fewer words always helps.

Client Reporting

Knowing what to track and preparing the report is the next thing one must take care of. Proper infographics with relevant and consistent formatting is a must.

Client Feedback

“Truth builds trust” is what she explained later. One must present true facts without beating around the bush even if the numbers are low, say so. If it isn’t done, say so. If it’s going to be late, say so… but early! The vision and getting a picture is needed rather then just the specifications. Present every information required; never work in the dark. Also one must use video calling or conferencing rather then just using phone.

Last but not least, SUCCESS, is what we must keep in mind right from project procurement till presentation.

The presentation ended with some goodies in form of 60 days free trial to SEOmoz PRO.
